Mural Writing AC
Mural Writing AC is a creative writing program created with South Jersey Poets Collective, inviting our community to draw writing inspiration from Atlantic City’s murals.
Members of the South Jersey Poets Collective penned writing prompts for the murals found throughout our city’s 48 blocks. These writing prompts are inspired by the mural they accompany, and we hope they inspire you to write something of your own, in a notebook or on your cell phone.
Prompts are accessible at 17 mural sites via QR code. You can also check out the full list of prompts.

Isolation
Miranda Bishop is a Brooklyn based ballerina, choreographer and aerialist. Her piece entitled “Isolation” was filmed on the boardwalk and beach in front of Steele Pier in Atlantic City.
“It brings me so much joy to present this piece to you! I grew up in Atlantic County and started my ballet career with the Atlantic City Ballet as a teenager. After many years spent dancing in Philadelphia and NYC I found myself in quarantine back at my childhood home in Northfield, NJ. During this unexpected isolation I totally fell in love with the song Agony by Yung Lean. The music brought out so many emotions and the lyrics captured exactly how this pandemic has made me and some many others feel. With this new found inspiration I choreographed a dance and filmed it with my wonderful partner David Weeks.” - Miranda
